Optician Knowledge:
Q:I purchased new varifocal glassed from Specsavers in Chippenham, there exists writing or marring on the lenses which says CH in the medial side of lens & 17D for the lateral side, above this can be a O.  Should this be there & if that's so please would you let me know exactly what means?

A:All varifocals have 'invisible' markings which designate the producer or make of lens and the reading addition, along with the optical markings in order to work and look into the optical centration and position in the varifocals. When wearing the lenses it's (or must be) impossible to see them.
